These are some of the tulips planted for the spring. I planted 1000 bulbs in three different beds all of the same color. The color scheme was purple, white and blue. I planted blue violas, purple pansies, blue hyacinths, blue muscari and the permanent phlox is light blue. I had difficulty with the pansies and violas did not grow as hardy as usual probably from the weed control I used last summer. In addition my digital camera developed a light streak which showed up in some photos.
The phto above shows a flowering Quince (red), blue hyacinths, and blue muscari (small blue plants) and the leaves of a holly hock.
One afternoon, I returned from work to discover a lady artist sitting in my driveway painting a picture of the tulips. On another occasion, a lady was by pushing a stroller and she said that she had walked out of her way just to go by the yards because it was so beautiful.
We (Courtney and I) will begin to plan next years tulips at Junaluska and would welcome your suggestions for next year.

I especially love the tulips. They are so beautiful! I hope I get a chance to visit and see them for myself.

You're making the rest of us look bad with your beautiful yard! I love the color scheme and am not surprised that the art community has latched onto your garden.
Looking forward to listening in on your planning session at L.J.
