This is a very recent picture of Grandmother. This was taken over Christmas break when dad and I went down to visit. Grandmother said she was comfortable and didn't feel pain anywhere. She prefered to stay and bed and rest and thanked us sincerely when we told her she could stay there and rest while we went to downtown disney.
My most prominent memories of granmother are from the two times of year, i was garenteed to see her, Junaluska and Christmas.
It seems like not so long ago when grandmother was out on the tennis courts with us every morning and playing oh heck in the evenings at Junaluska. I remember time spent in the tea room after tennis and walking through the rose walk which she loved. I also remember her taking us out for a special night at dinner every year at places such as J. Aurthers, the place that preceded that with the round tables with the large lazy susans that all the food choices for the night were put on, and a few others.
I have wonderful memories of Chritmas' at Grandmother's house. Santa's boot prints mysteriously in the ashes of the fireplace...uncle Billy's stocking full of rocks and sticks (because he was on the naughty list)...granmothers famous chex mix...and of course wonderful time spent with my grandmother.
Other memories from her home include her rose garden, croquet, shuffle board, and fresh yellow grapefruit straight off the tree.
I am truely thankful to grandmother orange for all the wonderful childhood experiences she provided for me, the wonderful family that she had and kept so close, and for the love and attention she gave me that only grandmothers can give.
