Sam and I went to Montreal for a long weekend this past week and had a lot of fun. I would recommend the city to anyone that was interested in shopping, good food, and seeing nice churches. We didn't do anything crazy (like go to the insectorium). Instead we just walked around, viewed some interesting sites, ate some good food, and hung out in our nice hotel room, which is pretty much how Sam and I like to travel. One thing that is interesting is that Montreal has an immense amount of underground tunnels that connect the city, which are pretty neat to walk through. (You can read about the underground city here). Another interesting thing is that the whole city is pretty much bilingual. There are French/English signs everywhere and everyone in the service industry speaks both French and English, which was pretty neat. The only downside to the trip was that because we were in Canada I wasn't able to view my North Carolina Tar Heels beat up on the Miami Hurricanes this past week, but the vacation was still worth the sacrifice.
