Atlanta Santa Speedo Run

This is perhaps the most risque photo posted to the Rybolt blog to date. Today I ran with about 150 other people in the first annual Atlanta Santa Speedo Run. Modeled after the one in Boston, we ran 1.3 miles to raise money for Chris Kids, a local charity for homeless youth.

The race began at the Dark Horse Tavern in Virginia-Highland and proceeded up Highland Avenue to the fire station (next to Highland Hardware, Dad) and then back down the other side of the street to the Tavern. Although it was 40 degrees outside and cloudy, the rain stayed away until the race was over. It did not feel anywhere near as cold as I had imagined it would. The race stayed on the sidewalk and everyone got out of the way and just watched and cheered. People everywhere were pulling out their I-phones and taking pictures. Cars stopped and honked. It was a blast!

Afterwards we all hung out at the bar for a while and had a drink. The place was packed with runners and spectators. I can't wait to run it again next year when I'm sure there will be even more people.
