Hello everyone! Happy Easter! CareyBill here. I am in Orlando for the weekend and Mom, Daniel, and I just got back from a visit to Grandmother's House on 939 Shine Ave. The house was up for sale for $500,000 but has now been taken off the market. Even so, the owner Mr. Ellis was nice enough to let us look through it this afternoon and take pictures. Here are some of the pictures that I took:

These were the plans that Granddad made when he was building the house. Grandmother gave them to the new owner who has them framed in the dining room.

The kitchen with new lower cabinets.

Family Room. The map of the world hung where the vintage movie poster is now.

Living Room with original hard wood floors.

Living Room looking into the Family Room. Dining Room would have been on the left but is now being used as sort of a large hallway.

Downstairs Bathroom looking pretty much the same as I remember it.

Downstairs Bedroom which later was Grandmother's office.

Mom walking up the stairs.

Landing at the top of the stairs as seen from Billy and Tommy's old room.

Top of the stairs looking into the Bathroom which still has the pink tile.

But the sink area has been redone.

Mom peering into her old bedroom that she shared with Aunt Alice.

Grandmother and Granddad's bedroom.

The house still has all the old wood doors and glass doorknobs.
Mom, Daniel, and I on the front stoop. Notice the plaque on the door for the neighborhood, Colonial Town, and the year it was built, 1937.
After touring the house we stopped by Amelia's accross the street to say hi. She is in her late 90s but looks like she's only 80. She seems to be doing pretty well.

I had almost given up checking this blog. I'm so glad I check this morning. Thank you for posting the pictures. The house looks very well cared for and it makes me happy to see so many things left just the same. Is the present owner new or the same one that bought the house from mom?
Thank you so much for posting all the pictures Carey! Those were great! If the person that buys the house doesn't want the architecture plans, we should see if we can get them back.
The present owner, Alan Ellis, is the person that purchased the house almost fourteen years ago from Mother. It was a walk down memory lane for me. Love, Arlen
Thanks for posting the photos, it was great to see everything. Where does that door go in the Florida room next to the fireplace? I just remember the TV stand being there and have no memory of there being a closet.

The door to the left of the family room fireplace goes to the heater and air conditioner equipment. Prior to the family room and new kitchen addition in 1957 or 58 there was no central heat or air. Sara, you probably never noticed it because the TV was always in front of it. love, Aunt Arlen
